Dictating is easy, coaching is hard
One gets you through a project. The other gets you through a life.
Anybody can tell you what to do.
Some may even have some expertise in the area that makes it good advice.
That’s easy.
“If you want a $200k salary, you need to learn programming.”
“If you want a $100M business, you need to move faster at all costs.”
That’s not helpful.
It’s not contextualized.
It’s not for YOU.
That’s what makes coaching valuable.
It’s knowing the destination, and the individual, and the feedback to course correct.
It’s guiding the journey without spoiling the journey.
It’s about teaching the process instead of forcing a direction.
If that resonates with you, try coaching instead of dictating.
